Creating a Non-Newtonian Fluid(Oobleck) in three simple steps and understanding its properties
Make a uniformly thick mixture of cornstarch and water. Dip your finger gently and slowly into it. Now repeat it, but with a forceful jerk. The oobleck seems to behave like a solid substance. The water molecules are dispersed easily since the water has less viscosity. Whereas cornstarch particles don’t move that easily, and organise themselves temporarily to form a solid wall which blocks the finger. The more the pressure we apply, the higher its viscosity becomes.
